The Pharmacy Department

In order to meet the demands for the pharmaceutical development, the Pharmacy Department was renamed the Department of Clinical Pharmacy in 2013. The Department of Clinical Pharmacy provides drug supply and pharmaceutical care and is responsible for the drug supply and clinical pharmacy services in the hospital. Through the efforts of all staff, the discipline has now developed into a set of drug supply, clinical pharmacy services, scientific research and education in pharmacy as the comprehensive professional discipline. The department was approved as the pilot hospital of clinical pharmacist system by the Ministry of Health(2007-2009), and the key discipline of the hospital (2008-2012). It has been accredited as the Clinical Pharmacist Training Base of the Ministry of Health since 2010. It has been the Group Leader of China Center of INRUD in Eastern China, Hospital in Rational Drug Use and Security Monitoring Network of the National Health and Family Planning Commission and Hospital in Prescription Comment and Monitoring Network of the National Health and Family Planning Commission since 2012. At the end of 2013, it has been become the National Key Clinical Specialty, Discipline Construction Project with Development Potential of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and Characteristic Specialty for Key Construction of Shanghai General Hospital.

In the course of the construction and development of the discipline, Fenggang Sun, HuijunShu, Yi Qian, Zongying Ma andQiqing Wang has successively served as Director of the department one after another, and Cheng Gui, Qiuxiang Xie, Jiahui Shou, Fangjun Zhou and Yuan Zhang, has served as the Deputy Director. Currently, academic the leader of the discipline is Prof. GaolinLiu (from 2005 to now), the Director is Prof. Guorong Fan, and the Deputy Director are Dr. Xiaoyu Li (from 2011 to now) and Dr.Qin Li (from 2015 to now).

The department is composed of Outpatient Dispensary, Emergency Dispensary, Inpatient Dispensary, TCM Dispensary, IMCC, Pharmacy Intravenous Admixture Services, Hospital Preparations Room, Drug Store house and the office of Clinical Pharmacy, and employs 160 people (14 of them have Doctoral Degree, and 16 of them have Master Degree), among whom 12 are senior titles. Clinical Pharmacy staffs provide pharmaceutical care to inpatients and outpatients at the Shanghai General Hospital.
